ITM is aware that its existence as business entity is integrated with the community. The term of “community” goes beyond the meaning of “community” who live surrounding mining operation area that become target of most community development programs. This idea is in line with the Company’s intention to bring more extensive benefit in Indonesia.

With education as the activity focus, the Company runs a program called “ITM for Education” with the theme of “Spreading Knowledge, Achieving Dreams.” Targeting children, volunteers of education and teachers, it aims to elevate the quality of education in Indonesia. The program has reached thousands of participants.

The Company has three subprograms under ITM for Education, namely Mining for Children, Volunteer Action, and Smart Teaching.

Mining for Children

It aims to introduce world of mine to children and broaden their science insights. Started with the publication of storybook on coal, it is continued by visiting elementary schools to bring in the content of the book through story telling and theatrical method.

Volunteer Action

The volunteers of education are a valuable social element for the nation’s development. The education facility is limited, yet they are not hampered in giving knowledge to less fortunate children. Therefore, the Company created numerous activities dedicated to volunteers. For example, “Volunteers Gathering,” an event meant to motivate their voluntary activities.

Smart Teaching

This program is aimed at elevating the ability of primary school teachers. The activities arranged, among others, are training on teaching with modern perspective. In this activity, the teachers learn creative teaching, library management, teaching with read aloud method, communicating with pupils, etiquette, and morality.
