ITM arranged a workshop for school teachers. The workshop introduced the Read Aloud method to upgrade both teachers and students’ knowledge by reading activities. The teachers came from dozens of schools in the area of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, which had been visited by ITM previously.

In cooperation with the Reading Bugs Community, the workshop was organized. It is a community who practices and socializes the Read Aloud method in Indonesia, that was inspired by The Read Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. The new method has proven to improve students’ reading interest in the USA. In this sense, the Fossil Energy from the Deep of Earth and Its Usage published by ITM would be socialized by those teachers using Read Aloud Method.

The workshop was held in two terms. The first term was on February 20th and the second was on 28th February.

The Read Aloud is the heart of reading. By practicing this method, a teacher merely needs to read a book to stimulate students’ brain. He does not have to create an imaginative story since the materials is provided in the book. This method can be applied to any subjects.
During the lecture session, the teachers were active to share their experience to each other. In fact, some school had applied the Read Aloud earlier although they just knew the name of the method at the workshop.
