On October 5, 2009, PT Jorong Barutama Greston and Banjarmasin Lambung Mangkurat University signed a memorandum of understanding of doing the collaboration on community development. The signing ceremony was carried out at the office university head in Banjarmasin.

One of the articles of the memorandum stated that the University shall provide manpower from various fields to fulfill PT Jorong Barutama Greston’ requirements during post-mining stage while PT JBG shall offer support in the form of related facilities.

The collaboration between both parties was expected to generate better plans on community development programs so at last they could stand on their own.

The community development programs focus on social, economy and also environment issues which include public relation matters.

The programs are mediated by the Consultative Community Committee comprising of local leaders, religious leaders, local government, and the Company.

Based on community’s aspiration and existing local potency, all CCC members plan, do, monitor, and evaluate appropriate community development programs.

Apart from that, the memorandum of understanding between both parties was also expected to create a link and match between education and labor.

At this occasion, PT Jorong Barutama Greston was represented by Leksono Poeranto, PT JBG director, while the Dean of Lambung Mangkurat University Professor Ir. Muhammad Rasmadi M.S. acted on behalf of the college.
