The Third Season of GET Program Officially Announced with Lots of Improvement

Professional company comes from professional personnel. Actually ITM’s Human Resources Department possesses a system of recruiting high quality personnel to fill strategic position in the Company, named Geologist and Engineer Trainee (GET) Program.

Attended by top ITM managerial board, the third season of GET Program was officially announced on June 14, 2010, marking the beginning of a 12 month comprehensive training and development program meant for 9 fresh graduates majoring geology, mining engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. They came from 4 front line colleges in Indonesia, that is, Bandung Institute of Technology in Bandung, University of Gajah Mada in Yogyakarta, University of Pembangunan Nasional in Yogyakarta, and University of Mulawarman in Samarinda.

The requirement of GET Program is tight. Not only should the candidates meet the minimum grade point average of 3, they also have to go through an interview by the line management, do the psychological as well as English test, demonstrate their presentation skill, and prove their critical thinking in a group discussion. At last they also have to endure some medical examination.

“You are a critical factor to our business success,” the Banpu’s Head of Technical Development and Service Neil Christopher Turvey said via videoconference from Bangkok, stating that today’s GET’s training module had been much developed for the last three years. He then told them a glimpse about ITM as well as Banpu Group operating worldwide. This videoconference was also connected all ITM mining site operations and joined by some of the mine heads and management as well as prospective mentors.

Welcoming the fresh graduate engineers, Somyot asked them to put their knowledge into practice. According to him, commonly engineers lacked of leadership skill. By joining the GET, however, they would learn how to deal with and manage people, he added.

“Apart from that, please enjoy being members of the big family of ITM,” he said as he introduced and explained the Company’s corporate values so called “the Banpu Spirit.”

“This good program complete fresh graduate students’ theoretical knowledge obtained in college with appropriate experiences and training before they really work at mining site operation,” Professor of Mining Engineering at Bandung Institute of Techology Aryo Wibowo told them as he gave appreciation of such a program.

Aside of the lots improvement of the training module leading the fresh graduates to undergo more field experience, this year’s GET program also engaged T-GET, the similar program arranged by Banpu in Thailand. A number of 4 T-GET trainees would follow parts of training season in Jakarta and be placed at some mining site operations.

During the next 12 months, the GET trainees are going to experience a 2 month orientation program in Jakarta office and another 10 ten month on-the-job-training in mining site operation. As the new “blood” has been injected, it is expected that the Company’s activity could be more energized.
