ITM Receives Environment and Safety Awards

PT Tambangraya Megah Tbk through its subsidiaries received Environment and Safety Awards from the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The awards, which were merely aimed at CCoW holders, were bestowed at the Awards Ceremony Eve on December 3, 2009, at Bidakara Conventional Hall, Jakarta.

The field of Environment comprised of 6 categories, namely Overburden Management, Erosion and Sedimentation Control, Seeding Management, Reclamation Management, Supporting Infrastructure Management, Environmental Monitoring, Each category had 3 levels of honors, namely Gold, Silver, and Bronze. As for Mining Safety, there was only one category consisting of 3 levels of awards, namely Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

PT Indominco Mandiri received all six categories in the field of Environment. They were one Gold Medal in the category of Overburden Management, one Silver Medal in the category of Erosion Control and Sedimentation, one Bronze Medal in the category of Seeding Management, one Silver Medal in the category of Reclamation Management, one Silver Medal in the category of Supporting Infrastructure Management, one Silver Medal in the category of Environment Monitoring. As for Mining Safety, it received one Gold Medal.

PT Jorong Barutama Greston got 3 awards in the field of Environment. They were one Bronze Medal in the category of Overburden Management, one Bronze Medal in the category of Reclamation Management, and one Bronze Medal in the category of Environmental Monitoring.

PT Trubaindo Coal Mining received 1 award in the field of Mining Safety and 6 awards in the filed of Environment. In the field of Environment, it received a Silver Medal in the category of Overburden Management, a Bronze Medal in the category of Erosion Control and Sedimentation, a Bronze Medal in the category of Seeding Management, a Silver Medal in the category of Reclamation Management, a Silver Medal in the category of Supporting Infrastructure Management, and a Silver Medal in the category of Environmental Monitoring, Health and Safety Management.

The awards were received by the representatives of each subsidiary who served as the head of mine engineering and the deputy of mine engineering.

From Indominco, Bramantya as the head of mine engineering acted for PT Indominco Mandiri to receive the Environment Award while Agussalim Nasution as the deputy of mine engineering stood for Indominco to get the Safety Award. Gede Widiada as the head of mine engineering acted for PT Jorong Barutama Greston to receive Environment Award while Elman Silalahi as the head of mine engineering represented PT Trubaindo Coal Mining to receive award for the category Safety and Environment.

“These awards prove that ITM has understood and fulfilled the standard of environment and safety determined by the Government,” said Ignatius Wurwanto, ITM’s Assistant Vice President of Quality, Safety and Environment, adding that the Company would make an effort to maintain and improve such achievement in the upcoming time.
