PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk’s vision to become “the leading coal-related energy company in Indonesia with sustainable growth through professionalism and care to its employees, community and environtment” is implemented by applying total production management and total quality management standard. In practical level, the standard is realized through 5S concept, that is, seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, shitsuke which in English means organization, neatness, cleaning, standardization, and discipline.
The basic idea of 5S is to organize documents and office equipments in work environment. The purpose of 5S is to prevent accident, reduce wasted time, increase productivity and maintain a healthy circumstance in work place.
Big Cleaning Day is a day dedicated for implementing 5S. In this day all employees do not work, yet focus on tidying up their work papers and cleaning their desk and office equipment around.
The Big Cleaning Day event on August 29, 2008, was opened by President Director Indo Tambang Raya Megah Tbk Somyot Ruchirawat who reminded employees of the importance of keeping their desk clean and tidy. So, for example, they can find their documents easily.
During this time Big Cleaning Day, an exhibition on energy saving and education about using office equipments wisely were also held. After cleaning season, Big Cleaning Day committee audited all employees’ desks and when necessary reminded them to follow the Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk’s standard of desk use.
Big Cleaning Day was conducted once in a year with assumption that cleanliness and tidiness will create a comfortable work environment so at last it can increase work productivity. And in its turn, the vision of PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk to become the leading coal-related energy company in Indonesia can be achieved.
