The GET Program is opened

PT Indo Tambangraya Megah held an opening ceremony of Geologist and Engineer Trainee (GET) Program on September 22, 2008.

Have been socialized since the end of July, the GET program is aiming at overcoming the lack of geologist and engineer staffs, preparing ITM future leaders by recruiting and developing qualified candidates. By doing so, ITM business will continue growing and becoming settled.

A number of 16 fresh graduates from 6 different universities had eliminated 200 competitors from 10 prominent universities in Indonesia such as Bandung Technology Institute, Gajah Mada University, Sriwijaya University, Hasanuddin University, National Development University, and Pajajaran University.

They would sign a one year work contract as trainees with ITM and started to endure a trainee program for 2 months in Jakarta and 10 months in ITM mine sites.

The development and training program would coach them to achieve a standard of competency so they could fulfill expected skill requirements to work for ITM professionally.

“This is a good beginning for the upcoming 15 years of your career,” President Director Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk Somyot Ruchirawat said. “Not only your career, but also your life.”

According to Somyot, as geologists and engineers who would have undergone training, they would be different from the ones would have not. “You will learn practically. The combination between knowledge you have obtained from college and your practical experience will strengthen your capability,” he added.

Somyot said that apart from technical skill, they would also learn culture, attitude, management, language, and communication skill. “During training season in Jakarta, you will learn management, team building, and leadership,” he added.

He encouraged them to freely utter their ideas to senior geologists and engineers they would meet during the training. “We hope you will become our permanent members in ITM,” he said.

“I like this program,” Andi Renaldo, a young engineer graduated from Gajah Mada University, said. He was interested in joining it since ITM was a big coal mining company. He was sure that the GET Program would improve his technical and management skill.
