Welcoming the holy month of Ramadan (it is the ninth month of Islamic calendar when Muslims do a-one-month fasting), ITM conducted “Storytelling on Coal Mining and Fast-Breaking Along with ITM” on August 19, 2010.
The agenda was intended for the unfortunate children to spend part of their fasting time by doing some fun from the afternoon until the breaking time come (around 6 pm in the Jakarta time).
Enjoying theatrical version of book “Adventure to Coal Mine” published by ITM, the 543 unfortunate children from 15 shelter houses and reading gardens were also entertained with games and some stunning show of various musical instruments made of wasted materials by 41 pupils of state madrassas and 20 kids from “Recycling Music Instruments Band.”
Conducted at the Auditorium of Youth Center in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, the event was one Volunteer Action activity under ITM for Education program, arranged to introduce knowledge on coal mining and PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk amongst the unfortunate children as well as to nurture their reading interest.
