As a part of concern with the nation’s children education and involvement in enlightening the nation live, Corporate Communication Department of Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk published a children book entitled “The Journey in A Coal Mine.”

The book publishing is aimed at providing knowledge base about coal mining and its work environment. The readers are expected to be elementary school students, particularly those whose parents work as a coal miner or in a mining company. Further, this book is also distributed to the students who are in a poor condition of life and school as an activity of social responsibility from the company.

The book was officially released by President Director of ITM Somyot Ruchirawat on August 2nd, 2008, during the ITM Family Day. The launch was witnessed by around six hundreds ITM’s employees and their families; and hundreds of the copies had been delivered to ITM’s employees’ children during such event.

The book told about 5 children – they are, Bain, Minko, and Eston, Adin & Eka who won the writing contest on coal. As winners, they were invited to have small tour in a mine site, got explanation about the coal and its formation, watched closely the mining process and the post-mining stage including the re-usage of an ex-mining pit.
